Oulton Park round 5
23rd - 24th June
And so to Oulton
Park, my least favourite track on the calendar. Testing on Friday started really
well being 2nd quickest overall.
We made some slight changes and went out
in qualifying putting in a time good enough for a front row start for the qualifying
race one on Saturday afternoon.
Qualifying Race
Started off from the
grid in position 2. The race was cut short due to a safety car while I was fighting
for the lead on the last lap, but Pead had the better run out of the last corner
so I finished 2nd.
Due to the fastest lap in my race (set by myself) being
slower than the fastest lap in the other qualifying race it put me in grid position
4 for Sunday's main race.
Championship Race
Now then what do you do
when the track is wet but slowly drying and your out on circuit in 10 minutes
- you gamble. We went for wet tyres the same as most of the field.
I had
a poor start falling back to 6th place but fought back up to 5th. The safety car
came out because of an accident involving my team mate Alan Taylor at Hilltop.
Thankfully he was okay which was the main thing.
The race resumed but was
cut short again. We only had 4 racing laps and in that time I was having a good
tussle with Ben Winrow and Jonathan Fildes but the chequered flag saw me in 5th.
Some more points which has moved me up the championship to 7th.
Next
up Donington Park. I had a podium there last year so let's do it again!
