Donington Park round 6
14th - 15th July
With practice
on Thursday instead of Friday it was an early start to the weekend.
By
the end of the day we were P2 in my group and P4 overall which we were happy about
as I had not used new tyres and I knew I could improve slightly.
Qualifying Well. . . My new team mate for the rest of the season, Barry Benham, & I decided
to use each other for a tow down the back straight.
I only managed to get
up to P4 as the tyre pressures we used just didn't work the way we expected them
to.
Qualifying race. I got a great start when the lights went out
and got into 2nd by the time we got to Redgate(first corner).
I sat behind
Martin Byford and started pressuring him towards the end of the race but forced
myself in to a mistake which allowed Winrow to pass me for 2nd place.
I
finished 3rd which I was obviously gutted with but I also had the fastest lap
for most of the race.
Main Race Sunday To start with our race was
delayed due to the treacherous weather conditions, which was a disappointment
as when we went out half the track was dry, and the other half was wet.
I
made a decent start holding my position for the the first lap then coming into
the last corner I ran wide onto the grass and dropped down the 8th place.
On lap 2 going down Craner Curves the right rear wouldn't grip and I went through
the Craner Curves backwards (quite and achievement I thought) and I dropped down
to about 26th position but I did manage to fight my way back to 13th by the end
of the race.
Not the result that I was due but a couple of points none
the less.
Lets see if I can get things together for Snetterton
